The Great American Road Trip, Version 2
Well... things have changed. Conflicting priorities. I do plan on still doing youth group next year, and while I had hoped - and think I will - have a couple of co-horts next year, I'm still the primary person. Youth group should start in mid-September, and Fall Con will be by mid-October. And then I've committed to doing Summer Con with the youth and there's no way I could back out of that. Summer Con is August 22-25. (My choice of dates, so no complaining.) Hence, I seem to be in the position that if I kicked off my long trip with Summer Con - officially leaving the area on the 26th - I'd have to be home by September 20thish (could technically come in the 21st, but really should be back the 20th). It's not as good; I'm not so big on traveling during August at all (too hot!). I'd miss the Bike MS ride. But in thinking about it... I could go to Glacier... go to Minnesota/Wisconsin... fly to Nashville, spend time with Tige & Carole... and then fly back to Minneapolis, head up through Canada on the way home and come down. It chunks out New England (bummer) and the California redwoods. The redwoods... well, my friend Krista is getting married in Tahoe in mid-November, and I have this idea about driving down, going to the redwoods and Arcata, and heading for Tahoe at the end of the week, then hauling it home on Sunday/Monday. I don't think I'd be camping at that point. My boss is okay with this. That would just leave New England.I really don't want to fly. I don't even know who would fly from Minneapolis to Nashville. But I have extra reasons for really wanting to get to see Tennessee and all. And next summer... I'll plan better. :)I think I need to set the dates in stone so I can be sure this happens and I don't forget anything else.
